Tim at Leadville 100 Update

Saturday, August 14th, 2010

Well, haven’t spoken to Tim yet, but from what we know from his wife, Tim blew out a chainstay somewhere around mile 40. And, yes, he was a bit perturbed. Mostly about missing a good training day. But, Tim rallied and decided to pull support for his buddy and roommate, Kimo Seymour. I’m sure we’ll get the story upon Tim’s return. For now, here’s a couple shots of Tim at the race’s start, before the day turned sour.

All Smiles
Tim looks all smiles here.

Hopefully, Tim will feel like chatting a bit about how the day unfolded. All I know is that his Felt 29′er looked sweet in the days leading upto the race and Tim was psyched to push it hard.

A Few Shots of Tim at Ironman 70.3 Boulder

Sunday, August 8th, 2010

Tim finished a respectable 6th overall at the Boulder 70.3 on Sunday. About what one would expect from someone in preparation for the Ironman World Championships in 9 weeks. Next up for Tim is the Leadville 100 Mountain Bike Race. While Tim will be towing the line with the likes of Lance Armstrong and Levi Lepheimer, just to name a couple of familiar faces in the pro ranks, TIm’s goals for the race remain modest- get a long, challenging training day in that he can build off for Kona..oh, and stay on the bike.

This first awesome shot is by Photog Extraordinaire, Eric Wynn. You can find more of Eric’s amazing skills here.

Tim at the La Sportiva Vail Half Marathon

Tim ended up taking a “wrong turn” and descending about 15 minutes worth of single track before realizing his error, turning around and returning to the start for a map. Lesson learned - always pre-ride the course!

the-service-course

These are the only guys I let touch my bikes. The Service Course is a full service bike repair business in what could be considered the most competitive region in the country for the bicycle industry. Founded by Pro Tour mechanics, Daimeon Shanks and Nicholas Legan, The Service Course has worked on bikes for the likes of Christian Vande Velde, Lance, Tyler farrar, Tom Danielson and more. Now we all know historically how picky and precise Lance is with every piece of equipment he uses - well, these are the guys that he’s entrusted to tinker with his bikes!

The coolest thing is that they even do pick-up and delivery - no extra charge! After 15 years on the pro cycling tour, working for teams like Radioshack, Garmin-Transitions, CSC and the US National Team - it’s great that they’ve planted themselves here in Boulder and are sharing their skills with the masses.

Check ‘em out for all your bike wrenching needs.

Slowtwitch: “What We Have Noticed”

Tuesday, March 30th, 2010

Slowtwitch does a regular bit on their website entitled, “What We Have Noticed”, which covers the latest cool stuff seen at the races or around town. Recently Slowtwitch’s Herbert Krabel caught up with the gang at Pearl Izumi to discuss some new prototype race shoes that Tim was wearing this past weekend at Oceanside. Tim’s been working very closely along side the Pearl Izumi group in hopes of creating the perfect racing footwear.

Say, That's a nice shoe!
